The standard processing time is usually up to 15 calendar days, and in some cases it can be extended. So it makes sense to apply 1-2 months before departure, and earlier in high season.

Appointments are made through the website of the consulate or of an officially designated visa center. Free dates can appear at different times, so check the schedule regularly. Beware of intermediaries selling "slots" for extra money: use official channels only, and any services beyond the fee must be clear and agreed in advance.
